This photo of friends in Giverny France, taken circa 1910, depicts Richard E. Miller (right), Miller's wife (center), and an unknown woman and child. It is likely that the unidentified woman and child were the sitters for this painting.
The only known painting of a mother and child by the artist, this work was featured in the 1997 show A Bright Oasis – The Paintings of Richard E. Miller at Jordan-Volpe Gallery.
