Still life paintings run the gamete from something you might come across on a table as you walk across a room, to highly stylized or abstract arrangements. Flowers to food, man-made objects or items found in nature, the subject of a still life painting is a unique as each artist who paints it. In many instances the subject matter is as straight forward as what the viewer sees depicted on the canvas, though in some cases the subtext of the objects chosen tell another story all together.
