Genre art is the pictorial representation of scenes from everyday life. The artist can utilize imaginary, realistic, or romanticized subject matter in the depiction of domestic settings, interiors, markets, outdoors activities, country and city street scenes, and leisure activities. Figural art is a broader application of the genre theme, and can depict everything from a single figure or portrait, to a crowded event or venue. Both traditional and modern artists can create genre and figural art, with each style bringing it's unique aesthetic concerns to the subject matter.
