Social realist painter Philip Evergood often used his art to comment on the inequities and miseries caused by capitalism and war. Evergood would address these discrimination and injustices by satirizing those who held, and often abused, their positions of power. In presenting these societal problems to the public, the artist attempted to bring light on the sectors of our country which he felt were in deep need of change.
