In addition to his fine art work, Paul Sample also had a number of commercial accounts. One client was Maxwell House Coffee, who appreciated Sample's regionalist style and found his paintings offered the ambiance they wished to use when promoting their product. In one of Sample's best known paintings, Maple Sugaring, the image became so iconic it was "borrowed" to be used as imagery on tin cans of New Hampshire and Vermont maple syrup.
The dust jacket image for the trade edition of Carl Sandburg's novel Remembrance Rock, featured another of Sample's artworks.
