Painting to me is not the development of a message or a technique – it is the art of painting which interests me. "Fish Story" was developed from sketches and drawings made at my summer home on the northern shore of Lake Ontario in Canada. My work has been called Romantic–this, I presume, is such a Romantic picture. However, it is not a concoction, but is something which I had seen and experienced. The dynamic movement of the forms presented moved me to paint the canvas. I really am interested in producing paintings which have substance, integrity, and which through time continue to interest the spectator. All I ask is that the paintings be enjoyed and that the spectator realize that there is a beautiful art of painting which has a great tradition behind it.
